Interactive Data was a featured presenter at the annual FIMSI (Financial Industry Mail Security Initiative) sponsored by the United States Postal Inspectors.
FIMSI is an on-going effort by the United States Postal Inspectors to improve communications and develop joint solutions with leading financial institutions, credit card companies, airlines, and law enforcement agencies with the goal of defeating identity theft and other fraud-related crimes.
Interactive Data’s presentation, titled “Emerging trends in telephony-based contact information,” focused on the unique challenges that technologies like wireless and VoIP present to the financial industry and law enforcement. John Schaeffer, President of Interactive Data believes that “wireless and IP-based telephony will continue to grow, making it harder and harder to validate who is really behind these new phone numbers.
“By working closely with industry leaders from the financial world and the United States Postal Inspectors, Interactive Data is committed to developing solutions that can help combat these unique challenges.”
Today, identity theft and other fraud-related crimes are among the most rapidly growing in the country. The U.S. Postal Inspection Service is the lead agency in investigating incidents of identity theft and is working closely with industry and other government agencies to defeat this costly menace.
