Today, March 20, 2013, The National List of Attorneys published the white paper on debt collection law in New Jersey, written by Lloyd S. Markind of Sklar~Markind, a full service commercial law firm established in 1995. They are devoted to providing their clients with the highest level of legal services in the areas of retail and commercial debt collection, bankruptcy, foreclosure, eviction, and secured creditor representation throughout New Jersey and Southeastern Pennsylvania.
Lloyd S. Markind is the owner of the Cherry Hill (beautiful suburban Philadelphia – “Come See for Yourself”) law firm of Sklar-Markind. Lloyd has more than 20 years of experience in commercial litigation and collections, with a concentration in the areas of equipment leasing, auto finance and banking. Lloyd is a member of the New Jersey and Pennsylvania Bars, and is a graduate of Temple University and the University of Tulsa School of Law. He is a member of the Commercial Law League of America (CLLA), the National Association of Retail Collection Attorneys (NARCA) and the Oklahoma Bar Association, among other organizations. He is licensed in both the state and federal courts in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Oklahoma.
From Lloyd’s paper we learned that electronic filing is mandatory for attorneys or firms that file more than 400 DC complaints per year. At this time, electronic filing of cases is only available in the Special Civil Part through the JEFIS system, and only for civil suits (dockets beginning with DC-); foreclosure and landlord-tenant electronic filings are not available.
Since 1981, Lloyd has practiced in the areas of commercial litigation and related transactional work inclusive of creditors’ rights, contract disputes and enforcement in complex commercial litigation. Since 2005, he has been handling commercial and consumer contingent fee collection matters for national and regional clients, together with related litigation statewide in both in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. His corporate responsibilities included managing a team of collectors, effecting post-charge-off legal recoveries and all related reporting in a performance-measured-by-numbers process-flow environment. His automotive finance experience includes representing a community bank involved in buying and selling automotive finance portfolios, motions for relief and replevins for various subprime automotive finance lenders, together with various agency-forwarded deficiency collection matters.
Sklar~Markind is committed to using a combination of a highly trained staff and the latest technology to ensure that all matters are handled efficiently and effectively. They represent clients ranging in size from large national equipment leasing companies to small local retail stores. In addition to claims placed for litigation, their collection department handles pre-litigation collections and post-judgment executions. Additional practice areas include bankruptcy, mortgage foreclosure, replevin, subrogation, and landlord-tenant. Approximately 80 percent of their practice is dedicated to debt collection.
The National List thanks Lloyd for submitting this paper and for telling us something about himself and the firm. You can access the paper at http://www.nationallist.com/white_papers/newjersey.
