Continental Service Group, Inc. (ConServe) of Fairport, NY was recently honored with a visit from the U.S. Department of Education (ED) to celebrate its number one ranking in this quarter’s (ending December 2006) Competitive Performance and Continuous Surveillance (CPCS) evaluation.    ED representatives Richard Galloway and Dwight Vigna presented ConServe with a banner to recognize its achievement.  Phillip Banks, Deputy Commissioner, Economic Development, City of Rochester was also in attendance and a congratulatory letter from Congressman Randy Kuhl was read to ConServe’s staff.  ConServe is one of only five firms selected for the ED small business award to collect defaulted student loans in September of 2004.  This is the third such visit ED has made to ConServe since the contract implementation in January of 2005.

The ED contract is performance-based; the CPCS summary is released monthly and posted on ED’s website, www.fsacollections.ed.gov/contractors/pca2004/Performance/. A winner is awarded each quarter.  Widely regarded as the most sophisticated system for tracking contractor performance in the collection industry, the CPCS summary takes multiple factors into consideration to produce rankings.  These rankings drive contractor performance and determine future account referrals.

Not only has this contract been a great opportunity for ConServe’s growth, but also for competition with the other awarded firms.  ConServe has ranked number one in four of the seven quarters since contract implementation.  There are essentially two competitions: quarterly and contract to date.  ConServe is not only ranked number one for this quarter, but is also ranked as the number one performer contract to date.

ConServe marked the occasion with a catered employee appreciation luncheon.  Reflecting on what this continued success means for ConServe, Mark E. Davitt, President and CEO, noted, “It remains both humbling and inspiring to witness the spectacular results of the combined efforts of our dedicated, professional and tireless staff. Our employees make our success possible.”
