Cabot Financial, UK market leader in debt purchase, has been recognised for its hard work in setting up a successful stop smoking campaign by winning the Innovation in Workplace Health & Wellbeing 2009-2010 – West Kent Stop Smoking Service Award.
The award was presented to Cabot at an awards ceremony on the 14th July and is in recognition of an 8 week stop smoking programme that started in mid-January. The pilot was open to all Cabot employees and the 13 participants included a manager and employees from across the business.
Of the 13 participants, 11 were successful in quitting smoking. One did not quit in line with the original “quit” date but continued to be supported via telephone with a new “quit” date. One person opted out of the programme but the NHS advisor attached to the programme agreed that the success rate was “extremely high”, aided by the excellent team rapport at Cabot Financial.
The participants had regular carbon monoxide readings and attended fortnightly group meetings. To support the success of the programme, it was agreed that where possible Cabot Financial would sponsor the time 50/50. Therefore, employees were only asked to make up 50% of the time that they were away from work to attend the group meetings.
Commenting on the award, Ken Maynard, CEO said: “We are extremely proud of the participants in this worthwhile programme. Quitting smoking can be a real battle for many people and so we were delighted to give our full support to those employees who were up for the challenge.
“We will continue to engage with our employees and support them in their personal goals while at the same time constantly seeking to improve their working environment.”
