NORFOLK, VA — Portfolio Recovery Associates, Inc. (NASDAQ: PRAA), a company that purchases and manages portfolios of defaulted consumer receivables and provides a broad range of receivables management and payments processing services, today announced the appointment of Tanya M. Madison as vice president, corporate communications.
In this newly created position, Madison’s responsibilities include directing all strategic internal and external communications for Portfolio Recovery Associates (PRA) and its subsidiaries, including organizational communications, public relations, media relations, brand communications, investor relations, and public affairs. Madison reports to Steven D. Fredrickson, PRA’s chairman, president and chief executive officer.
Madison, an award-winning public relations professional, has more than 18 years of experience in journalism and corporate communications. Prior to joining PRA, she was first vice president, External Affairs for Chase Card Services, the credit card division of JPMorgan Chase & Co., promoted from vice president. There she directed media relations and public relations efforts, including market launch campaigns for Chase proprietary brand credit card products, such as Chase Freedom, Ink from Chase, Chase Sapphire, and Chase Ultimate Rewards, in addition to national co-branding partnerships with Fortune 500 companies, including Disney, Amazon, Southwest Airlines, and United.
A former Associated Press reporter, Madison’s extensive experience also includes: director, Corporate Communications, The Mazer Corporation: director, Marketing Communications, OSU Medical Center; assistant chief of communications, Ohio Department of Administrative Services; and a variety of positions at American Electric Power in media relations, government relations and executive communications. She also was president of The Madison Group, a full-service public relations agency.
Madison earned a bachelor’s degree in News Editorial Journalism from The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio, and a master’s degree in Management from Antioch University in Yellow Springs, Ohio.
